A Message from Dr Nic

Welcome to our November community update — this month, we’re diving into a topic that’s often confusing but incredibly important: supplements.

There’s a lot of noise out there about what works, what doesn’t, and what might even be harmful — so Jarrah and I are cutting through the hype to share the truth about supplements. From magnesium and vitamin D to herbal blends and adaptogens, we’ll explore which ones actually have an evidence base, how to choose quality over marketing, and when you might not need them at all.

We can’t wait to share this conversation with you.

Warmly,

Dr Nic x

Introducing the Metluma AMA Series

The truth about supplements for peri-/menopause

We’re launching something new — and we’d love you to join us.

Metluma AMA: Ask Me Anything with Dr Nic is a new live, interactive webinar series where I sit down with experts, clinicians, and thought-leaders to tackle the real questions behind modern women’s health. From hormones to hydration, supplements to sleep — these sessions cut through the fads and bring you evidence-based insights you can actually use.

Join Dr Nic Avard and nutritionist Jarrah Eddy for a live Metluma AMA session on Monday, 24 November at 12:30 pm (AEST).

We’ll talk honestly about:

  • What supplements actually support women’s wellbeing in midlife
  • How to spot clever marketing from real clinical benefits
  • The truth about magnesium, blends, and trendy powders
  • When you might literally be flushing money down the drain

Ask your questions live — it’s your chance to get real answers from trusted experts.

Research Spotlight

Early research into menopausal hormone therapy (MHT/HRT) and dementia risk is showing promising results — suggesting potential protective effects on brain health when therapy is initiated at the right time.

As always, we’ll keep you updated as more evidence emerges, but this is an exciting area of women’s health that underscores why access to informed care matters.

CMHAA Event – Hormones and Mood

Our recent Corporate Mental Health Alliance Australia event, “Hormones and Mood – What We’re Missing,” sparked a powerful discussion on how hormonal shifts influence mental health, mood, and cognition.

What We’re Listening to This Month

Anyone who’s ever listened to Florence + The Machine knows there’s something transcendent about her music — wild, honest, and unapologetically human. Florence’s sound has this rare way of cutting through the noise and landing you right back in your body — powerful yet tender, fierce yet thoughtful. This month, as we strip back the hype and get real about what truly supports women’s health, her music feels like the perfect reminder: strength doesn’t always roar — sometimes it breathes, moves, and builds quietly from within.
