The Metluma Edit | Community Series February 2026
4 minute readIntimacy is not supposed to hurt, disappear, or become something you “just put up with” — even in peri-/menopause.
This season of life can bring dryness, burning, UTIs, painful intimacy, low desire, or feeling like your body just doesn’t “switch on” the way it used to.
These changes are common, but they are not things you have to tolerate or feel ashamed of. There are safe, effective options — from lifestyle tweaks and supplements to prescription treatments and pelvic floor support — that can transform comfort, confidence and pleasure.
This month, I also want to talk about connection: to your younger self (and holding with reverence everything she’s carried you through), to your present self, to your wiser older self, to community, and to something bigger like nature — and how these threads of connection can gently feed into relationships, love and ‘down there‘ health (because we both know this email wouldn’t reach your inbox if we used the real word).
That’s exactly why this month’s AMA on Thursday 12 February is all about intimacy and ‘down there’ health — just in time for Valentine’s Day. Think of it as your permission slip to ask the “awkward” questions, get clear on what’s normal vs treatable, and start rewriting the story of midlife intimacy on your own terms.
Warmest,
Dr Nic, Specialised GP

Why is it that ads for men’s s*xual health make prime time, while women’s comfort and pleasure often go unspoken?
This month, we’re opening the conversation — and the door — to better ‘down there’ health in perimenopause and menopause.
You’ll learn what’s normal, what’s treatable, and how safe, effective options (both on and off prescription) can make a real difference.
With special guests:

Midlife is not the end of pleasure — it’s a chance to rediscover it with knowledge, curiosity, and care
▶️ 15 minutes to create real change
In the past year, we’ve invited over 1,000 women to complete our UMA40, a 40-question quiz measuring the impact of peri-/menopause on daily life.
And now we’re inviting you to take part.
Our UMA40 is not just about giving you a clear 2026 baseline and personalised plan for specialised support. It’s about building the world’s largest research study of peri-/menopause experience to lobby to government for better care, stronger workplace protections and sustained investment in evidence-based services that reflect your real-life experiences.
In the lead‑up to International Women’s Day, take 15 minutes to complete your UMA40, or take it again to see how your symptoms have changed over time.
This is your data, your story – and your first step back to feeling like yourself again.
