5 minute readA WORD FROM GEORGIE & DR. NIC
At Metluma HQ we’re still buzzing after our fabulous event last Tuesday which we know a number of you attended. We not only hosted a powerhouse panel discussion on why you should care about women over 40 but also held the first Sydney screening of M-Factor – Shredding the Silence on Menopause. Thank you to our panel and the 60+ people who attended. And to Zurich for hosting us in their gorgeous offices.
The event has capped off what has been a big year for not only Metluma but midlife women everywhere. I think we can more than confidently say that the conversation on perimenopause and menopause is well and truly underway and we’re proud to be putting the best of it into action.
We’d also like to do a huge shout out to our clients, partners and team who have joined the revolution this year to ensure women can press play on menopause and not have to wait decades for solutions that aren’t fit for purpose.
2025 is shaping up to be even bigger with an exciting global partnership being announced very shortly. We also have our groundbreaking symptom tracker dropping soon that will be giving us the most accurate view of Australia’s menopause symptom load. Stay tuned for more on this in January!
To close out, in the spirit of the season we thought you might get a little chuckle out of this one.
Wishing you all a beautiful festive season with the family and a fabulous new year!

REDEFINING THE FUTURE OF WORK AND CONSUMER INFLUENCE
People thought we were a little crazy putting another event in the “silly season” diary but when regos opened two weeks ago, there was no question that people were willing to clear their calendars for this one. Bringing together a powerhouse panel in collaboration with our friends at Zurich on Cammeraygal land in North Sydney, guests were treated to a thought-provoking (and sometimes tear jerking) discussion between some of the brightest minds across health, product, behavioural science, marketing, data and tech.
The panel covered everything from menopause 101 to designing product with a midlife female lens, to being vulnerable in the workplace, to unique opportunities for brands to unlock a multi-trillion dollar global market.
Thank you to our wonderful panel.
‘STAYING CURIOUS’ IS IN OUR DNA AT METLUMA
Last week, we had the privilege of presenting Metluma’s mission at Curiosity Camp, hosted by the Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre (DHCRC). This inspiring event brought together leading minds across health, technology, and research to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in health.
Last week, we had the privilege of presenting Metluma’s mission at Curiosity Camp, hosted by the Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre (DHCRC). This inspiring event brought together leading minds across health, technology, and research to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in health.
Our focus was clear: addressing the growing mental health and workplace challenges faced by women, particularly those navigating perimenopause and menopause.
Armed with evidence, expertise, and creativity, the Metluma tribe developed actionable strategies in response to the Senate Inquiry recommendations. Key insights include:
- Mental health claims in healthcare have surged by 45% (2019–2022), with women in their 40s disproportionately affected.
- Women in perimenopause are 1.5 to 1.8 times more likely to experience severe psychological distress.
In response, we’ve crafted a cross-industry collaboration plan for an 18-month trial targeting female healthcare workers aged 35–60. This initiative aims to improve quality of life, reduce workplace claims, and pioneer innovative digital health solutions and new models of care.
We need your support.
We’re actively seeking partners and payers—employers, insurers, superannuation funds, regulators, government bodies, and more—to join us in bringing this vision to life. Together, we can test these solutions, drive structural change, and better support our healthcare workers—the backbone of our country.
If you’re ready to make a difference, email georgie@metluma.com to learn how you can get involved.
Curiosity Camp wasn’t just about ideas—it was about action. Let’s empower women, transform workplaces, and lead the charge for meaningful change.
